Women In Science Without Borders (WISWB) was founded by Dr Amal Amin, a polymer scientist at Egypt’s National Research Center in Cairo, to be a science-based community-building initiative and network with the slogan of science for sustainable development having members now in 60 countries.
WISWB aims at empowering women in science (WIS) in STEM fields (including medicine and related social sciences), bridging the gender gap in science and society through cooperation, encouraging excellence between females, males and other partners in academia, industry, policy makers, NGOs to attain sustainable development goals (SDGs) and gender equality (SDG5).
Briefly, WISWB empowers WIS by inclusion and complete involvement in scientific communities and society with a remarkable impact. WISWB activities include:
The organization of the annual World Forum for Women in Science which is a multidisciplinary global forum on cutting-edge research and innovative ideas related to SDGs with capacity-building training/ mentoring/ highlighting success stories and youth activities/competitions. The forum was held in Egypt twice, once in Brazil and South Africa, and will take place in the future in Kurdistan, and Iraq for refugees to help build the country with science.
Saturday Science Webinars are organized on the challenges facing humanity in the age of COVID-19 and beyond. This weekly webinar will be a regular activity on diverse topics to connect experts worldwide to facilitate future scientific cooperation.
WISWB activities are gender inclusive productive and innovative scientific platforms for all categories of scientists, stakeholders and youth from all ages starting from 17. WISWB activities will include regular mentoring, training programs and scientific
meetings to encourage gender-inclusive joint projects worldwide for sustainable development and humanity.
