Dr. Nashaat Nassar Wins the 2021 Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering Lectureship Award



 

SASTA is proud to congratulate Dr. Nashaat Nassar on being the 2021 winner of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering Lectureship Award. Acknowledging him for his outstanding contribution to Chemical Engineering while working in Canada, Dr Nashaat is the fifth recipient in the history of the prestigious award. 


Dr. Nashaat’s academic track record speaks for itself. Having a remarkable h-index of 42, Dr Nashaat has been cited 5083 times through 110 research papers, 10 book chapters, and two complete books. Dr Nashaat has also impressively filed seven USA patents and six invention disclosures.


Owing to this impeccable research legacy, Dr Nashaat was promoted to the rank of Full Professor at the University of Calgary’s Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering last year. That’s where Dr Nashaat has been operating for 17 years and where he established the cutting-edge and industrially-connected Laboratory for Nanomaterials Research.


So far, the lab has attracted over $10 million in research funds for working on environmental applications to give rise to new low-carbon energy sources. Notably, the lab has also been collaborating with several national and international oil and gas companies to scale up the eminent research innovations of the team. 


Aside from being an academic magnate, Dr Nashaat is the founder of Carbon OxyTech; a rising company pioneering in green technology by converting domestic residual feedstocks, such as coal and biomass, into different valuable products. 


Luckily for aspiring scientists, Dr Nashaat Nassar is keen on sharing his exceptional breadth of knowledge. He has mentored eleven postdoctoral fellows, twelve PhD students, twenty-six Masters students and forty undergraduate students. In addition, Dr Nashaat is fairly active with insightful advice on his LinkedIn profile.
